Nothing is impossible for Hemilin

By Alba Luz Arroyave Z. | Project leader

Hemilin is a 14-month-old girl who was born in our San Vicente Fundacion Hospital and has so far she gone through in two open-heart surgeries. At birth, specialists found out that the amount of oxygen that flowed in her blood wasn't adequate, that was caused that she cause having several health difficulties that prevented him from having the normal development that a child can have during his first months of age.

Initially, Hemilin had a complication of heart failure and within a few days of birth was operated on. Although she was hospitalized for several days after that, her heart was so strong that it exceeded the expectations of the doctors and improved earlier than planned. Months later they had to operate again because it was necessary to change their support systems and make other interventions.

With the help of our specialists, Hemilin is successfully recovering from his last surgery, and it is most likely that he will be well in a very short time, since he now has at his disposal a high-quality care in the new Children's Heart Unit, demonstrating to everyone that perseverance is the most important value, because it allows us to believe that things will improve.

For the care team of the Children's Hospital San Vicente Fundacion, Hemilin is a fighter girl and her mother, who is the person who stays with her the major time, confirms it and says that: "She is a happy girl despite the circumstances". Although the process has not been easy for her and her family, they consider that the care support received at our Children's Hospital has always made them feel safe about the procedures that must be performed, besides that of seeing the smile all the time on the face of your daughter thanks to the human warmth of the Hospital team, has made them feel at home.
