Heart disease is a disease that can often be diagnosed from the mother's womb and thus be treated on time, however, this was not the case with Mateo, a small diagnosed with a transposition of large vessels in his heart, a disease that alters the normal circulation of blood and therefore does not ensure proper development of children.
It all started when her mother Leidy noticed that Mateo's chest did not look normal and although in her control appointments she was always diagnosed that everything was fine, her mother's instinct did not think the same, she felt that her son had something that did not It was common and I needed to find out. Her family lives in the city of Quibdó, Chocó, there they visited the Hospital and after several appointments and clinical exams, a doctor noted that Mateo should be seen by a specialist as soon as possible.
After that, they were referred to our Children's Hospital San Vicente Foundation, here it was reviewed by a cardiologist who confirmed that Mateo had a heart disease and in addition to this a pulmonary stenosis, which apparently did not affect the life of this little boy because he did not have any the symptoms, but still had to be operated and the result of this operation was not assured.
Relying heavily on God and his will, Mateo's family decided that, although surgery was risky, it could be the solution for their son to have a quality of life. And so it happened, all our care team tried hard and they succeeded, the surgery was a success and in less than a week, this little one and a half year old was very good.
His mother Leidy says that: "My son means a lot to me, he transformed our lives and God put very good doctors in his way, I am grateful for that." Mateo is an extraordinary child, now he is 2 years old and growing healthy and strong, this type of heart disease did not affect his motor development, he is intelligent, restless and wants to get ahead, he is proud of his surgery and he tells his friends: “ They operated on me and Daddy God healed me. ”
With your help, children like Mateo can regain their hopes of growing healthy and strong, in addition to having a great quality of life.
