29 SEPTEMBER WORLD HEART DAY
Each year 76,000 children are born in Antioquia, 760 of whom have heart conditions; nationally there are as many as 8,000 children born annually with cardiovascular conditions. The majority of these children are low socio-economic status, with little or no access to healthcare and treatment.
OUT OF EVERY 1000 CHILDREN SUFFER FROM CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE
40% of these suffer critical pathologies requiring some type of intervention
Hearts diseases are responsible for 6% to 10% of global child deaths, and 20% to 40% of congenital defect deaths, and are the third cause of death of children in intensive care units, after prematurity and infections.
Today your heart will make an ill child's heart beat!
