Our Josia, one of the very first children to walk through Mammadu's doors back in 2012, was the protagonist of a truly special event that filled our hearts with pride.Josia graduated from high school, which he celebrated with his classmates and teachers on an evening that, as you can read from his own words, left an indelible mark on him.But that's not all. What touched us deeply was the school's awarding of two very important prizes: one for his social commitment to those in need, and one for having embodied the true spirit of his school, the prestigious St. Paul's College in Windhoek, over the years.This is a tremendous satisfaction for us, because that spirit and those values are the foundations of Mammadu, which we strive to instill in our children and young people as they grow.Thank you, Josia, for making us so proud of you...keep it up!!!And precisely for this reason, Mammadu has decided to invest in Josia's future. His dream is to attend the Faculty of Business at North West University in South Africa, and Mammadu wants this wish to come true. Therefore, Mammadu has decided to launch a fundraiser to support Josia's studies for the next four years.Like a large family like Mammadu, we turn to all of you who care about the future of our children, so that, together with us, you may help Josia realize his dream, just as he helped us realize ours: that of raising responsible, value-rich young men and women. That's why we opened an dedicated fundraiser for him, which you will find in the links. 

JOSIA, MY PRIDE

Josia,
one of the first children to attend Mammadu kindergarten in 2012, passed his high school exams this year.
Not only has he become an intelligent and well-mannered young man, but he is the embodiment of what the Mammadu project aimed to achieve.
His school, St. Paul's College, awards students at the end of the year for their athletic and academic achievements. Josia is not the best in either sports or academic subjects, but he was recognized for his social involvement. He, who personally needs help and support because he comes from a disadvantaged background, has committed himself beyond his limits, through school-led initiatives, to assist and improve the lives of other less fortunate people. For this, he received the "Standard Bank Trophy."

The second prize, the "Mapanga Trophy," is awarded by classmates and school staff to the student who best represents the values of the college.

I don't want to take away credit for all the other awards given for the best in math or athletics, but knowing that one of my kids received these two awards for his character fills me with infinite joy. These are exactly the values every human being should embody, and knowing that they are part of Josia's being gives me faith in humanity. It also shows me that Mammadu's project can truly give roots and wings to the children it cares for.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
My Matric Farewell Journey

The night of my matric farewell was nothing short of magical night and culmination of years of memories, friendships, and milestones that shaped my journey from Grade 1 at the legendary Herman Gmeiner Primary school where it all started . What made it even more special was the generosity, love, and support from my teachers and the wider community who came together to make the event possible.

The celebration began even before the main event, as one of my teachers  sponsored a before-party, creating an  space for a select group of us to gather. It was a heartfelt moment where we shared laughter, stories, and memories from our earliest school days, reflecting on how far we had come. That gathering was a reminder that high school was more than lessons and textbooks it was about the bonds we formed and the amazing experiences we met along the way 

As the evening unfolded, another teacher gifted me a truly iconic entrance. I had the privilege of arriving in an MG vintage candy red convertible, a car that radiated  elegance and timeless charm. That entrance was not just about style, but about creating a memory that will stay with me forever. To make it even more unforgettable, the photoshoot with the car perfectly captured the  moment one of pride, growth, and transition into a new chapter of life.

Additionaly Mammadu Trust, sponsored my t-shirt and shoes. Their generosity ensured that I could step into the evening with confidence, dressed not only for the occasion but for the memories I was about to create.

The Country Club set the perfect backdrop for our matric farewell. The venue’s warmth and elegance matched the significance of the evening as we, the Class of 2025, came together one last time. Over a beautiful dinner, we exchanged stories, laughter, and heartfelt reflections. Every interaction carried a sense of uniqueness, a reminder that this group of people—this class—would never be gathered in the same way again.

And then, of course, came the dance floor . For one final night, we danced together celebrating not just the end of an era, but the beginning of countless new journeys. The joy, the energy, and the togetherness created an atmosphere that was truly indescribable.

My matric farewell was not just an event, but an experience of gratitude and love. It was made possible by teachers who went above and beyond, by community support, and by classmates who turned a night into a lifetime memory. It was a moment to behold, a truly special chapter in the story of my life—one I will carry with me always.

i actually don't know where to start with the news, let's start from the worset then it will get only better!

THEFT AT MAMMADU

On April 4th, Mammadu was the victim of a burglary. The fence, doors, and windows were broken, and the chairs were stolen from the cafeteria because they couldn't get into the kitchen! This is incredibly frustrating!In early June, thanks to the support of some donors and insurance reimbursement, we were able to purchase new chairs.

Last week we had an other theft, the came to steel the copper of the solar geyser! Not even a meter of copper pipe. and yes we are fenced in, we have alarm, camaras and we have security on stand by... what else!!!

PILOT PROGRAMM FOR VACATION LESSONS 

Schools in Namibia are on winter vacation. However, Mammadu is still open as usual and, from June 18th to 26th, organized a two-week pilot program of vacation lessons, which was open to other students in the neighborhood.

The focus is on grades four through twelve. However, a vacation homework package was also created for grades two and three, who are present at the center. The initiative attracted 20-24 students.

Everyone found the sessions very helpful.

TUBERCULOSIS AWARENESS AN INSTRUCTIVE SESSION

This spring, we had the pleasure of welcoming Karin, founder of an association dedicated to disseminating and raising awareness about tuberculosis in schools. Karin came one afternoon with her daughter to give a very engaging and informative talk.

During the session, she clearly explained how to recognize the symptoms of the disease, how it is transmitted, and what should or can be done in the event of infection. One of the most impressive moments was when she visually demonstrated how aerosols spread in the air when a person coughs: she used a deodorant spray, the scent of which spread to the back of the classroom in a matter of seconds.

In this way, she was able to convey a concrete understanding of how quickly germs can spread in a closed environment. Through this example, she emphasized the fundamental importance of properly ventilating rooms to reduce the risk of contagion. The students participated with great attention and interest, demonstrating that they were impressed by the information received and the interactive nature of the presentation.

MY FIRST-YEAR SEMESTER EXPERIENCE AT THE NAMIBIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Starting university felt like stepping into a whole new world—but a world I quickly came to enjoy. As a first-year student studying for my Bachelor of Land Administration (Honours ), I’ve already learned so much and found myself truly excited about my future.

Living on campus has made everything easier. I don’t have to stress about transportation or missing early classes. Everything I need—my classes, the library, and even new friends—is just a few steps away. There’s always something happening, from study groups to late-night conversations that turn into laughs. It really feels like a second home.

What makes my experience even more rewarding is my course. Land Administration might sound serious, but it’s surprisingly creative and hands-on. One of my favorite parts is when we get to draw architectural plans. It gives me a chance to visualize land use in a way that feels almost like art. At the same time, learning about land law has opened my eyes to how land is managed and protected in our country. I never thought legal concepts could be this interesting, but now I find myself wanting to know more.

Every day I feel like I’m building something—not just knowledge, but a foundation for my future. Being on campus and in a course I’m passionate about has made my first year unforgettable. I can’t wait to see what the next chapters of this journey hold

When Mammadu bought me new specs, I didn’t realize at first how much of a difference they would make—not just in how I see the world, but in how I feel supported and loved. 

As a student, there are so many challenges: adjusting to university life, staying focused, and trying to do your best in a whole new environment. But when someone believes in you enough to invest in your success, it pushes you to keep going, even on the tough days.

These specs have become more than just something I wear—they’re a daily reminder that I’m not in this journey alone. Every time I sit down in class, whether I’m squinting at an architectural plan or trying to read notes on land law, I feel a quiet kind of confidence. It’s like Mammadu is right there with me, reminding me, “You’ve got this.”

I’m so thankful for their support—not just for the specs, but for believing in my dreams and being part of this chapter in my life. Sometimes, it’s not the big things that leave the biggest mark. It’s the small, thoughtful gestures that say, “I see you, and I believe in where you’re going.”

And for that, I’ll always be grateful.
