Christmas and Sleepover

Dear All

Kids, love to stop at a friend's house for the night. Obviously, the kids from Mammadu are no exception, only there is a problem, the logistics of their homes! So we decided to organize it in Mammadu and what would a sleepover be without watching a movie? So since there are so many of us, we brought the cinema to Mammadu and while we were at it, we also had a barbecue first. The kids could bring two guests each, some brought family members, others friends. While we waited for it to get dark, the kids danced for the spectators and Lukas, like when he was little, delighted us with his somersaults. And then, in the darkness of the eary hours of the night, Avatar began, or rather Avatahhhhr as Jazu says. The show was sponsored by one of our supporters in memory of Aunt Grazia and all the food was sponsored by ADS (Association Diplomatic Spouses). We had everything from meat, sausage, potato salad, popcorn, ice cream, watermelon, juice and even breakfast for the next morning. Definitely an unforgettable night for everyone.

THANKS

This wonderful evening was only possible thanks to the contribution of: Francesca Gherro, Balbina's adoptive mother, who sponsored the entire cost relating to the rental of the open cinema and ADS (The Association of Diplomatic Spouses of Namibia) who sponsored the barbecue, breakfast and all drinks. A special thank you to all our staff.

A DAY IN THE BOOKSTORE

Reading is a particularly interesting and educational hobby. Our kids know this well: they are authentic devourers of books. Recently the Mammadu library was a little out of stock. The morning after the open cinema, Agnes decided to accompany the three most avid readers, Javaza, Petrus and Vini, to a used books shop to choose new titles to bring to Mammadu. This was possible thanks to the leftover money after the expenses of the previous evening. Also in this case thanks to ADS (The Association of Diplomatic Spouses of Namibia).

DENNIS … AN EXAMPLE FOR EVERYONE

Some daysago I (Agnes) received an invitation from Dennis to the inauguration of the "Cafè Maca" where he works as a Chef. Participating was a source of great pride for me, I saw one of my "children" realize his dream. In recent days I had a chat exchange with him that I want to share with you as it reflects the spirit for which Mammadu was born.

Agnes: Is this the place where you work?

Dennis: Yes

Agnes: I'll come on Saturday

Dennis: How nice of you!

October 29, 2023

Agnes: Great job, Dennis, I'm so proud of you and your macarons are divine

Dennis: Thank you very much, I'm very glad you took the time to come

Agnes: I wouldn't have missed it. I'll come to you when I'm in town!

Dennis: You will always be welcome Mamy

Dennis: And what flavors of macarons have you smelled?

Agnes: Oh, I tried them all and I liked them all!! I'm the best!

Dennis: Wow! This gives me even more strength. You know I'm the pastry chef there, which means it's just me who makes all kinds of pastries and helps in the kitchen.

Dennis: For now I do both since we are only two chefs in the kitchen, think we sold out before closing time today, God is always good.

Agnes: Yes, God is good, but so are you, devoted, honest and hardworking. I'm very proud of you. Well done, Dennis!

Dennis: Thanks Mamy! How I miss being able to call you Mamy

Agnes: It makes me feel great to eat the food you prepare. You're awesome, Dennis! I will shout it out loud and always root for you.

Dennis: Thank you Mamy, I want to say that you have always been there by my side from the beginning until today. I absolutely cannot forget you

Dennis: Goodnight, Mamy, I love you and take care of yourself, we always love you and we still need you to grow

October 30, 2023

Agnes: Hi Dennis, how are you today? I didn't check the menu on Saturday, but do you happen to have a peanut butter shake or something?

Dennis: Oh yeah, it's not on the menu but we can make it for you

Agnes: Don't worry, there's no need for special care. I will choose from the menu. But thanks

Dennis: No, we can always do it for you

School is over, the little ones have celebrated and we are ready for the holidays!

Now we are ready for the Christmas holidays!

During the last few weeks I accompanied some of the kids to visits to the dentist and the optometrist because they were really urgent.

In Mammadu the windows, the grates, and the locks were repaired and Daniel, our driver, replaced 40 light bulbs since the night security lights were no longer working!!

Christmas for the little ones, thanks Gondwana!

The Kindergarten children received their diplomas for the finished school year from our teacher Linda and celebrated Christmas with a special Gondwanan Santa Claus who distributed gifts to everyone with his Elves! Once again thanks to Gondwana who never forgets Mammadu and her children!

We all want to thank you and whish you a wonderfull Festive Season and all the best for 2024
