This lady is the last patient of the day during the first week in January. Her name is Reina and is 51 years old from Sicatacare. She came to the clinic because of a dog bite, which was easily treated. To tell the truth she was more excited about the reading glasses that have been possible because of your many donations.
In the States if we break our readers or loose them we just run down to the store and get a pair for as little as $1. I have a pair in every room in the house. In Honduras, they go years, sometimes their entire lives after 50 without being able to see even a simple note or book. They do not have the ability to buy a pair as that would be worth a days wages and food comes first and caring for the children.
We just love the look on their face the first time we hand them a book and find glasses to meet their needs. This lady would of been happy with just the glasses and no antibiotics for the bite.
It reminds me to be thankful for my own life and growing up in the United States. Such a simple thing you provided for someone with nothing made all the difference in her life.
Thank you for your continued diligence to help those who need it. They are always grateful and rarely ask for anything.
Have a great day. Enjoy every thing you experience today.
Serving with you,
