An important part of healthcare is nutrition. We educate people about their nutrition and give them vitamins on a regular basis but it is impossible to follow nutrional education when you have no money to buy the food you need. It is also difficult to buy the food you need when you can not work while you are sick. The number of people treated at the clinic as of Jan 1,2014 is 31,149. This does not include dental and village clinics. These are people that might not of been able to go back to work other wise or people that would of developed serious medical complications if left untreated.
This year 10.2 million meals were donated through USAID and managed and distributed by IRC. One of the requirements of the program is that people are monitored through weight, exams and medical testing. This helps us to graph the results of the food on the patient over time. This program will run for approximately 6 months. During this time we will see the progress of the patients through the screening program at the Clinic.
Thank you for your help in feeding the hungry through the Clinica de Esperanza's program.
