Dear Donors,
The situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is critical for the hundreds of children at risk. Malnutrition is a problem affecting millions of children with micro-nutritional deficiencies. This is a crisis of conflicts, instabilities, poverty, and poor healthcare systems. Most places in the DRC are deprived of nutrition, with acute and chronic malnutrition reaching levels that often rise above the emergency thresholds set by the World Health Organization. Children bear the brunt of these challenges, suffering from issues such as growth wasting and other severe health troubles due to malnutrition.
Every day, we work closely with AMKA Onlus and our local partner, the Institute of Augustinian Sisters, to help children suffering or at risk of malnutrition in the villages of Mabaya and Sambwa. We aim to reduce malnutrition and improve the well-being of children by supplying protein-rich food according to the diet of a child available to prevent stunted growth, which could lead to poor mental and physical development of children. Another essential part of our project is to track children’s health by carrying out monthly medical checkups and measuring their growth and nutrition improvement.
This commitment is having a positive impact on children's lives; hence, they develop hope for a brighter future. However, these efforts must be extended so that many more vulnerable children benefit from these interventions and nobody is left behind. Thank you!
