In rural Bangladesh, over 90% of women use wood &traditional stoves for cooking, inhale smoke and subsequently damage their health& environment. Inefficient wood based cooking increase deforestation. 25500 families use 76500kg wood daily and 60% can be saved by the use of fuel-efficient stoves.The Project aims healthy Cooking to support25500 HH by providing efficient 5-star stove & setup a pellet mill using waste biomass. Families will be benefited in health and environment with job opportunity.
90% of Traditional stoves use fuels like wood and loose biomass for cooking. Huge biomass waste produced in rural Bangladesh create unhealthy environment and burn inefficiently in household mainly for cooking. They have less access to affordable Clean cooking technology. Rural household women are unaware that traditional stoves contribute to Climate and Air pollution leading to premature mortality deaths & respiratory diseases. About 32K children &14K women die yearly by household air pollution.
6500 families will get access to clean cooking within 2021. A 100-ton capacity Pellet Mill will be set up for better utilization of unused biomass wastes. 300 women entrepreneur & 200 technicians will be trained for sensitizing on behavior change campaign to climate mitigation activities, improving public health, safety& Healthy kitchen for women in the project area. Affordable efficient 5 Star stoves & pellet fuel will help to reduce health hazard, save fuel and support to achieve 12 SDG Goals.
6500 family will be benefited directly by the project. Moreover, a pellet mill in the area will provide employment opportunity of 200 people. 300 women will be trained to support the beneficiary families and will be able to run their own business after the completion of the project. Using efficient stoves will reduce fuel use and improve health. Waste Biomass will be utilized in the pellet mill provide clean environment in the area. In the long run, people &environment will be benefited equally.
