The highly-regarded Institute for Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP), headquartered in Guatemala City, is sending its team of nutrition training specialists to Chocola to support the Seeds for a Future program "Healthy Kitchens and Cooking for Nutrition."
A key factor in all of Seeds' programs is the delivery of training and knowledge sharing at the household level via regular visits over many months. These visits may provide coaching on successfully growing nutritious herbs and vegetables, or information on the importance of nutrition and what a balanced and varied diet means for the health of all family members.
Seeds for a Future hires only local community members to make these key household visits, and this means that our team members must first receive in-depth training. All of Seeds' local staff recently attended INCAP's first 3-day session of intensive training and they are very excited to start visiting participant household to share the wealth of important knowledge they gained.
And we're delighted, for two reasons. Training our local staff members creates a corps of community residents who are well-trained and capable of training others in cooking for nutrition and clean kitchen practices -- sustainable knowledge that will lead to healthier families and healthier lives. And we're very pleased that our team of local men and women show a strong committment to helping others in their community to learn skills and methods that will improve family health and household economy.
I hope you share our happiness in knowing that many children in the Chocola region of Guatemala will grow up mentally and physically stronger as a result of your support. And I hope you will SHARE THIS EMAIL with friends and colleagues you think might join us to help indigenous rural families fight the entangled evils of poverty and malnutrition.
Your on-continued support will help us expand to more villages, and bring nutrition and clean-kitchen training to all our garden program participants! 100% of your donation goes directly to Seeds' programs, and of course donations are tax deductible. Global Giving's donation system makes it easy to give on a monthly or quarterly basis, too!
Warmest regards and thanks for sharing,
