Many school children with hearing loss struggle to keep up in class because they cannot hear the teacher or follow lessons. This project will provide 50 hearing aids to children from poor families who cannot afford them. Hearing tests will be done by trained staff before fitting the right device. Follow-up support will help the children adjust and care for the hearing aids. With better hearing, they will take part in class and learn with more confidence.
Hearing loss makes it hard for children to learn, speak clearly, or understand what is being taught. In many poor areas, children with hearing loss are ignored or wrongly seen as slow or stubborn. Parents often cannot afford hearing aids, and health centers may not offer proper screening. Without help, these children fall behind in school or drop out completely. Untreated hearing loss also affects their friendships, safety, and how they take part in daily life.
We will identify children with hearing loss through school-based screening programs. Each child who needs help will get a hearing aid that suits their level of hearing loss. Fittings will be done by trained staff, with instructions given to children and families. Follow-up visits will be made to check the device and teach basic care. The project will make it easier for children to hear clearly and learn better in class.
Children with better hearing are more likely to stay in school and do well in class. They will understand lessons, speak more clearly, and take part in group learning. This may reduce school failure, teasing, and isolation among children with hearing loss. In the long run, they may have better chances for jobs and a more active social life. The project may also raise awareness among families and teachers about early hearing care.
