3,500 South African children will have a treatable form of congenital heart disease this year and they will die if they do not receive corrective surgery. Prof. Kinsley has done countless surgeries and saved thousands of lives. Although he donates his time and expertise, he cannot do it alone. Donations are needed for correct cardiac diagnosis and rehabilitation of these children. We now have the technology to save young lives. We must bring it to those in need. Donate to save a life!
Children with normally curable illnesses must not die due to their geographical and financial situation. For around 3,500 babies in South Africa each year, being born with a heart defect is a death sentence as treatment is simply unavailable to them.
The Children's Cardiac Foundation of Africa is on a mission to help by providing high quality surgical care to these children. By working with private paediatric cardiac units and other local sponsors, we are able to treat these children surgically. Their heart defect is likely resolved, at least for several years or even decades, with one operation or intervention.
In addition to providing surgery to 100 children, we also able to train doctors and nurses in the field of paediatric cardiac care, building much needed surgical competence throughout South Africa. In time, and through collaboration with local government, we expect every province to set-up and run their own paediatric cardiac programs. This will save many more young children in the years to come.
