Heeling Our World continues to reach and impact large numbers of families and orphans, and we are seeing more KLEMprints (footprints made by children wearing KLEMS) throughout Africa.
UGANDA- Jinja– Our team leader, Rock Rwakishaya brought his team to Amolatar District in Northern Uganda. This is a very poor area that had been ravaged by HIV/AIDS. The children were in desperate need of shoes. Omara Moses, Director of the HORD Orphanage in Kampala, heard of their plight and asked if we had anyone that could help. Although it was a long journey, Rock gladly joined Omara and they made the trip. Because of the distance, and the difficulty of re-supply, they brought a large amount of equipment and supplies. The villagers voiced a commitment to develop their skills to a point where, after creating enough shoes for their children, they would create a sustainable cottage industry by selling at local markets.
Mbale– We bought supplies for Rev. Kathleen Masuba who is mentoring her group of trainers. They will be visiting local villages where they will deliver equipment, materials and impart the knowledge of how to make the shoes.
SIERRA LEONE- Freetown– Stephan Fomba brought shoes made at our U.S. workshops to children in the Mahanaim Orphanage in Grafton, Sierra Leone . These are children with multiple disabilities, Many became orphans when they lost their entire families as a result of the Ebola crises. The photos are of a few of these children
MALI- Bamako- Simbo Kieta and Dr. Mamadou Karim Tourecontinue to lay the groundwork for opening our walk-in clinic for the street children of Bamako. As with most things in Africa, progress comes slower then expectations.
U.S. Lots of workshops… lots of shoes being made and sent to help the children in Africa.
