The project supports 750 children to develop their reading skills after school lockdown via an innovative, child-centered educational program, in which the new learning environment filled with toys, games and movement activities will change student's motivation, make learning more interesting and help progressiveness. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, children had limited opportunity to get adequate support from their teachers, so their reading skills have worsened and must be improved.
Functional illiteracy is a problem affecting 1 in 4 children in Hungary, taking a disastrous toll on the most vulnerable underprivileged children especially during such critical times like the COVID pandemic. Comprehensive reading is the fundamental criteria of communication, further education and future orientation in society. The project will help 750 disadvantaged children to improve their reading skills and make sure they are not left behind.
By the innovative, child-centered educational methodology, reading difficulties are recognized in time and action is taken if needed. For 750 children, the program's learning environment filled creative accessories and movement activities will make learning to read interesting and efficient, which helps them to become comprehensive readers.
Children, who learn to read in time, most probably will earn a high school diploma what will have a positive, long lasting effect on their lives and will give them better chance on employability as well.
