Support Children on Education & Other Needs

Dear Donor,

We were able to support more than 2,500 students of remote schools during January - April 2023 with your support. Thank you for your donation and much blessings to you ! You have helped continue the education of many vulnerable students who would have otherwise dropped out of school during this year. We covered over 1,500 students in remote schools in Bandarawela (Uva Province), and the balance in schools in Matara & Galle (Southern Province), Polonnaruwa (North Central Province), Nikeweratiya, Wariyapola and Alawwa (North Western Province).

Now we are planning to support 3,200 students in Kataragama / Tanamalwila / Tissamaharamaya for the next new school term commencing in February 2024.

In order to support all the students, we need Rs.14 million. We have already raised Rs. 4 million and need a further Rs. 10 million.

We seek your kind assistance at the "Little by Little" Campaign run by GlobalGiving from the 18th of September (at 00:00:00 EDT) - 23rd of September (23:59:59 EDT). All donations upto USD 50 will attract a 50% bonus from GlobalGiving.

GlobalGiving is a registered nonprofit charity in the United States and England and Wales. Donations made by eligible donors in the United States can claim a tax deductible contribution on United States tax returns. Donations made by eleigble donors in the UK can claim Gift Aid (an extra 25% added to eligible donations by the UK Government) when they donate in GBP.

We appreciate your support to raise as many donations of USD 50 or less to help those students who need our assistants. Your contribution will be enhanced by 50% and help the parents of the students who find it a challenge to send their children to school due to economic difficulties to lessen their burden.

Dear Donors,

Our Rural Schools Team started on the distribution for the 5th consecutive year, on the 4th of January 2023.

First phase covered 102 rural students in 3 remote schools in Deniyaya. (Matara District - Southern Province). The donationat included a school bag, shoe vouchers, schools essentials, lunch box and a water bottle. Also, all the students were provided refreshments. The total cost of this distribution was approximately LKR 600,000/- approx.

Second phase is the largest for this year and covered 1,464 rural students in 24 remote schools in Bandarawela (Bandarawela district - Uva Province). The donation included a school bag, shoe vouchers, school essentials and a lunch box.Sports goods were distributed to 4 schools where the functions were held on the donation. Also, all students who participated were provided refreshments. The total cost of this distribution was approximately LKR 7 million approx.This phase was successfully completed during the period 3rd - 6th of March 2023.

Also, the 3rd phase of a smaller distribution took place in Colombo in February and March, where 400 students from low-income families were donated school bags only. 

The team is organising the following two phases during the next few weeks,

1) Distribution of school essentials to 550+ students from low-income families in Alawwa, Wariyapola (Both in Kurunegela District) and Anamaduwa (Puttalam District) on the 28th of March 2023

2) Distribution of school essentials to 120 students from the Medirigiriya Vidyalaya in Medirigiriya (Polonnaruwa District) on the 1st of May 2023

This year the distribution has been restricted to around 2,500 rural students due to the escalation of prices in all school essentials by more than double.

We still have a shortfall to support all requirements on the balance two phases, and any support through friends, colleagues, relatives will be much appreciated.
