Summary

Refugee children have a lot of difficulties to have a good education: no schools, family moving from one site to another. We help refugee children to attend a boarding secondary agricultural school called the LAP (www.asaplap.org). This school gives stability for the students and an adapted education for her/his future.

Challenge

Refugees from neighbouring countries of Burkina Faso have fled instable situation. What is supposed to be a temporary situation is often becoming a long term situation. One of the difficulty for those refugees is education of the children. Movement of the families between settlements and limited access to schools makes that children without proper education have little hope for the future.

Solution

The LAP is an Private Agricultural Secondary School. It is a boarding school. By being able to send refugees children to this cshool we insure that those children have a stable education in good living condition. The study program is for 8 years with national exams at the 4th, 6th and 8th year. It is an agricultural education which can help them to find a future.

Long-Term Impact

Succesful refugees children will be influential in promoting education to their brothers and sisters. Even if the number of children sponsored to attend the LAP is limited, it will help integration and understanding between the refugees and the local people.
