1. Context and Rationale
On August 26, a devastating fire swept through several neighborhoods of Bukavu, particularly Cimpunda and Mosala. More than 1,000 homes were destroyed, leaving nearly 2,000 families without shelter, resources, or immediate prospects.
In a context already marked by vulnerability and the absence of effective social safety nets, these families are now forced to sleep in the open, exposed to harsh weather conditions and serious health risks. The situation is even more alarming as it comes just days before the start of the school year, putting children’s education at serious risk.
2. Project Objective
This project aims to provide an urgent and structured response to the essential needs of affected families while laying the foundation for long-term recovery.
Main objective:
To deliver emergency humanitarian assistance to more than 2,000 families affected by the fire, restoring minimum living conditions and preserving human dignity.
