Christel House Grad Receives Full Scholarship to Arizona State University

Thank you for your continued support of Christel House South Africa!  Your generosity helps us develop goal-oriented, successful students prepared for the challenges of higher education and the 21^st Century workplace. 

We are excited to introduce Cimone Maasdorp, a 2010 graduate of Christel House South Africa, who was recently awarded a full scholarship and will begin her studies in tourism at Arizona State University this fall. 

“This opportunity means the world to me and my family!” she beams.  “I am passionate about tourism and travel and will make this scholarship count these next four years as an ASU “wildcat.”

Cimone’s interest in tourism reflects her deep desire to make a significant contribution to her community, which sadly  is plagued by  overwhelming poverty, violence and unemployment.   “Attending ASU on scholarship will equip me with the skills I can use to help create jobs and other positive opportunities for my people,” she continues.  “I want to bring hope to my community.” 

She is thankful for her family’s unyielding belief in her abilities and credits Christel House with teaching her to expect the most of herself.   “I have been blessed with the great support of my parents and grandparents,” she says.  “I am grateful to Christel House for showing me I can reach my dreams by setting aggressive goals, working diligently, and persevering through challenges.”
