Over the past three years, the Aku community in Okigwe, Imo State, has suffered prolonged insecurity, leaving hundreds of children displaced and out of school. Many have lost homes, breadwinners, and stability, facing the threat of child labor, early marriage, and hopelessness. These children are the most vulnerable, yet they carry the potential to rebuild their community’s future, if given the chance to return to school.
Preparatory Progress.
During this quarter, Empower Future Initiative has focused on identifying the most in-need children. We have assessed families, mapped out the scale of educational deprivation, and prioritized 268 displaced children who urgently require support. Each child has been carefully documented, with information on their age, schooling status, and specific needs.
Next Steps – Your Impact
The project is ready to launch, but we still need funding to provide school fees, uniforms, books, and psycho-social support. Once fully funded, these children will be able to return to school, regain stability, and start rebuilding hope for themselves and their families.
