This project will help 500 children involved in hard labour return to school. Many dropped out due to poverty and now work in markets, farms, brick laying, rock breaking, sand packing, or street hawking. We will pay school fees for both primary and secondary school. Primary school costs 10 dollars per term and secondary school costs 15 dollars per term. The project also covers books, uniforms, and other school needs to help them stay in class throughout the school year.
Many children in Nigeria are forced into hard labour because their families cannot pay school fees. These children are found hawking, working on farms, laying bricks, breaking rocks, or packing sand at building sites. Some serve as house helps or roam the streets begging. As they grow older, they fall far behind in learning and face risks to their health and safety. Without help, they remain stuck in hard labour with no chance to return to school.
This project will cover school fees for 500 children in primary and secondary schools. It will also provide uniforms, notebooks, and basic learning supplies. Volunteers will check in with schools and families to help the children attend regularly. Parents or guardians will be guided on how to allow the children stay in school throughout the year instead of sending them back to labour.
Children who return to school are more likely to learn useful skills and find better ways to support themselves later in life. They are less likely to remain in street work, take risky jobs, or face early marriage. As more children leave hard labour and stay in the classroom, child labour may reduce in the community. The project will help many families see the long-term value of education.
