This project will provide therapeutic food, clean water, and basic health checks to 500 undernourished children in low-income communities. Nigeria has one of the highest rates of childhood malnutrition in Africa, with over 30% of children under five underweight. Without nutrition support, these children risk growth delays, infections, and early death. Donations will help supply food kits, train caregivers, and monitor recovery progress.
Children from poor households in Nigeria often go days without a full meal. Many are fed starch-heavy foods with little or no protein, vitamins, or minerals. As a result, they suffer from weight loss, stunted growth, fatigue, and frequent illness. Most families cannot afford special food or medical attention to help their children recover. The risk of death from common infections is much higher in malnourished children.
The project will provide nutrient-dense food, medical screening, and growth monitoring for 500 malnourished children. Trained volunteers will distribute food packs and check children's progress every two weeks. Parents will be taught simple, affordable ways to prepare better meals using local ingredients. This support will help children regain weight, improve immunity, and reduce illness.
Children who recover from malnutrition are more likely to survive, learn, and stay in school. Their families may adopt better feeding habits. The project will also reduce health costs linked to repeat illness. As children grow stronger and healthier, the community will benefit from reduced child mortality and a better future for its young population.
