Family Planning Services Remain Out of Reach

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting the Help 5,000 Ghana Women Access Family Planning Pills project. We sincerely appreciate your generosity and concern for women who face barriers to accessing reproductive health services in rural communities.

Many women living in remote areas of Ghana continue to face difficulties obtaining reliable family planning services. Long distances to health facilities, stock shortages, transportation costs, and limited access to information can make it difficult for women to obtain contraceptives when they need them. These challenges contribute to unplanned pregnancies and place additional pressure on families already facing economic hardship.

We are grateful for the donations received so far. However, the funds currently available are not sufficient to begin implementation of the project. Additional support is needed before procurement of supplies, community outreach activities, transportation, and beneficiary enrollment can commence.

This project aims to provide a three-month supply of oral contraceptives to 5,000 women in underserved communities. Trained health workers will also provide private counseling and information to help beneficiaries understand safe and appropriate use. Outreach activities are planned to reach women living in areas where healthcare services are limited.

Access to family planning allows women and families to make informed decisions about pregnancy spacing and reproductive health. It can also support maternal health, educational opportunities, and household stability. For many women, access to reliable family planning services remains an important part of improving their overall wellbeing.

We remain committed to implementing this project and continue working toward the resources needed to launch the first phase. As progress is made, we look forward to sharing updates on outreach activities, beneficiary participation, and project implementation.

Thank you for helping expand access to reproductive health services for women in underserved communities.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
