Neema dreams of pursuing a career in acting. She is very creative and is skilled in both singing and dancing. However, when she was 16, Neema was raped by her partner, which meant her life changed drastically. She was housed by a nonprofit youth hostel, which helped her to recover with therapy and a safe space to live in. The case is still ongoing for this.
Just as she was feeling more stable, when she turned 18, the charity hostel could no longer provide her with her room, as it was a children’s only charity. Fortunately, our project’s hostel for vulnerable women was able to offer her residence. Neema was relieved and thankful to continue to be supported.
To nurture her creativity and encourage her healing, she was offered dance and art therapy, which has had an impact on both her mental and physical well-being. The hostel also provided the space to express herself and have a daily practice of her singing and dancing. She hopes that, as she improves, she can soon apply for acting positions.
With the help of a career advisor, Neema is working on how to set career goals and actively work towards them. We hope to one day see her on the big screen, doing what she loves!
Thanks to you women like Neema can seek the shelter they need and nurture their passions in life, whilst accessing the therapy, treatment and career advice to pursue a fulfilling future.
