Thanks to your contribution

Thanks to your contribution our Youth program continues to support young people with cancer.

This time, we want to tell you about support groups that have programmed especially for young people. According to the needs and concerns of the youth population, we decided to focus the issues to quality of life and to build a life as a strategy to foster hope and joy of living.

In recent days, we started these meetings with the theme of " Handling Nutrition and food during and after treatment", to this session assisted 12 young people with their companions and we invite two professionals that provided the information, on which they highlighted the conscious and varied food as one of many steps to get a proper quality of life.

We had a local juice store available in the city of Bogota to develop the practical part of the support group, in which we made and tried different rich and healthy preparations. We learned about nutritious smoothies, their nutrients and proper handling of them.

Young people asked several questions about eating meat. Milk and vitamins. The nutritionist specializing in cancer responded that can be consumed sweets and milk; as long as it is moderate. He recommended that the dish is like a rainbow, many colors and lots of variety. And he said vitamins and supplements should only be taken with medical indication.

No doubt, it was a pleasant time in which young people from Funcolombiana met, listened to their life stories and learned with experts about the care they need to have during and after treatment.

What do you think of this project?, Do you have any suggestions for us to improve?
