Dear Friend, We hope this message finds you and your families healthy during these unprecedented times and the future has never felt so unpredictable. We thank you for your continued support and wish you, your family and your community health and peace. You being part of our Ngao Society family, we are obliged to provide with an update of little strides that we make and the impact that your generous gift has done to our community. At the beginning of this year, we made a few resolutions concerning women and girls within our community and we appreciate the milestone already. The major milestone we made was to merge the project for the young girls and women beadwork. This was to be a fully fledged program by the name "Ngao Women and Girl Empowerment program". This was due to the similarities of the challenges they experience. Therefore, it was imporant to create synergies of the intervention efforts. Through this program, 10 girls have been taken through lifeskills and mentorship training. We recived a wellwisher who sponsord one of the girls to take a vocational training course in a beauty college. While 3 other girls in highschool. We are excited that our first beneficiary who was supported to attend beauty and hairdressing college training through Ngao has completed her studies. With your support, we facilitaed her with a seed capital to buy equipment to start her freelance beauty care business. To strengthen sustainability of the project we have so far conducted three business skills training to the women beadwork team. They have also upgraded thier tailoring work by making clothes that are sold to the local community. We have facilitated them to attend four market exhibitions where both local and tourist visitors converge. This have enabled them to get access to contacts and the local market. We also decided to consolidate the young girls . Otherwise, until the project is fully funded, we shall continue accepting your gifts and donations from your friends and friends of your friends. With the COVID-19 pandemic right now, Ngao Society faces new challenges. As we adapt to these unprecedented circumstances, we have chosen to be our brothers and sisters keeper. we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to our community. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you. As the curfew has already been declared by the government of Kenya to reduce the spread of the pandemic, our heart empathizes with our volunteers who supports the work at our office, the children, girls and women that we support. Their daily sources of income has been curtailed. They have NO access to water and food. We have taken this mater as an emergency to provide relief food and water to our volunteers and a some families that we support in the program. We are consolidating support and donations to buy them some food stuffs, water and groceries. If you’re able, please make a small donation to https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/empowering-vulnerable-affected-women-in-nairobi/. If you’re unable to donate at this time, there are many other ways you can support us! Share with your friend and might just show us the love in your support. Much Regards, Leonard Nyongesa Program Coordinator C/O Anthony Hulula Ngao Society
