Education is essential in the fight against poverty. However, 1/3 of India's children are unable to attend school because of poverty or a simple lack of an actual school to attend. Schooling allows children to learn important skills that enable them to get higher paying jobs and a hope for the future.
Bharathi belongs to a low-caste community, and her father died due to alcoholism. Her mother works in the fields, but has athsma so can't always provide for her needs, especially education.
But because of your support, Bharathi is now able to attend school! She's now in the 9th grade, and her favorite subject is science. Your generosity not only provides enterance fees, but also school supplies to make sure she can get her work done quickly and be successful in class. Her goal is to get on the list of best grades in the class!
