Walking the dirty streets of the slums, Asef headed to pick rags to earn enough for a meal. Survival is the only goal, as he tries to scrape together enough food and money to make it through each day. Your investment in India Partner's slum schools gave Asef, a 13 year-old boy, access to a quality education and great support system to work toward a better future.
Asef has admitted to his teachers that he struggles with depression and thoughts of suicide. When the pressure of life in poverty seemed insurmountable to Asef, he turned to the teachers and counselors who were made available to him through your donations. They provided him with the care and support he needed to continue working his way out of poverty by prioritizing his education.
Today, Asef is thriving and knows that a brighter future is within reach. Whenever he starts to feel the darkness of depression or thoughts of ending his life, he knows that his teachers and counselors are there to support him.
