Giving Hope Through Nutritional Rehabilitation

Malnutrition is not just about hunger. It’s about children too weak to play, too tired to smile, and too sick to grow. It’s about mothers who watch helplessly as their little ones struggle, not knowing where the next meal will come from. But because of you, we are changing that story.

In the past three months, 50 children have been enrolled in our nutrition clinic, and we’ve watched them regain their strength, energy, and joy. Thanks to your support, these children are not just surviving—they’re getting better. You have helped save their lives.

More than 100 children still rely on our free outpatient nutrition clinic every Tuesday. Each week, they receive nutritious food, medical check-ups, and the care they desperately need. Their mothers are also learning how to prepare healthy meals with the little they have, ensuring that recovery doesn’t end when they leave the clinic.

Our team at Whisper’s Magical Children’s Hospital sees the transformation firsthand. A severely wasted child who once arrived in pain now runs to greet us with excitement. A mother who once cried in despair now holds her healthy baby with relief. This is what your generosity does.

Reducing Maternal and Infant Mortality in Uganda

Thank you our donors for the generous support and contributions towards helping stop mothers and children dying at child birth.

Every day in Uganda, 16 women lose their lives due to complications related to childbirth, and 10 out of every 100 babies are stillborn. Sadly, over 67% of births happen without skilled medical supervision, and many health centers lack the resources and trained staff needed to provide proper care. This stark reality underscores the urgent need for improved maternal and infant healthcare in the country.

Through your support, we have been able to save lives of children and mothers. Our antenatal classes, including free Lamaze classes every Sunday, equip mothers with essential knowledge about their pregnancy and childbirth. These classes reduce anxiety, increase confidence, and ensure that women are well prepared for labour and delivery. We are with them every step of the way, offering support and guidance throughout their pregnancy journey.

In the last three months, we have successfully delivered 40 babies. Many of these babies, who would otherwise have been at risk, have also benefitted from our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where we provide critical care.

In addition, we’ve cared for 20 premature babies, offering them the necessary support for survival and growth. We are also helping children born with birth defects, ensuring that they receive the specialized medical attention they need to thrive.

These efforts have made a significant impact, contributing to a reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates in the region.

While we’ve made great strides, the need for continued support is urgent. Every contribution helps us expand our services, reach more mothers, and improve the care we provide. No mother or child should have to face the dangers of childbirth without proper care, and with your help, we can ensure that more lives are saved.

Restoring Hope for Malnourished Children.

We are deeply grateful to all our donors for their unwavering support, which has enabled us to continue making a life-saving difference for malnourished children in Uganda. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to treat and rehabilitate some of the most vulnerable children, giving them a chance to grow, thrive, and regain hope for a healthy future.

Malnutrition remains one of Uganda’s most critical public health challenges. With approximately 29% of children under the age of five suffering from stunted growth and 4% facing acute malnutrition (wasting), the urgency of this issue cannot be overstated. These children are not just fighting hunger—they are fighting for survival. This is where your contributions have made all the difference.

In just the last three months, with your support, Whisper’s Nutrition Ward has successfully treated and rehabilitated 70 severely malnourished babies. Each child received essential therapeutic feeding, medical treatment, and care, allowing them to recover from starvation.

Through our outpatient therapeutic program, we continue to support many more children on the road to recovery. This ongoing care ensures that their progress is closely monitored and that they continue to regain their strength even after leaving the ward.

Malnutrition is common in remote villages, far from accessible healthcare. Through Whisper’s outreach program, we travel to these underserved areas to identify malnourished children and offer education to families about proper nutrition. More importantly, we bring critically malnourished children back to our ward for intensive rehabilitation. This expansion of our services has allowed us to reach even more children who would otherwise be left without care.

Since the establishment of Whisper’s Nutrition Ward, we are proud to have saved and rehabilitated over 10,000 children. This remarkable milestone could never have been achieved without your compassion and support. Every child’s life we’ve saved stands as a testament to the profound difference that your donations make.

With your continued support, we will expand our outreach efforts, enhance our therapeutic care, and work towards the day when no child in Uganda suffers from malnutrition.
