Dear Supporters,
In our last report, we told you how we had raised money in our Trekking for Treasure fundraiser. Now we bring you news of how we have used your generous donation in the past few weeks.
We have donated £1 500 (US$2200) to the Seychelles SPCA so that they could purchase two shipments of supplies from South Africa for their vaccination and sterilisation campaign.
It is really very exciting that the SSPCA is able to host this event, free of charge for any animals that need it. When we first became involved in the SSPCA it was a very small organisation that was only able to run very small and limited campaigns on the main islands. It really is a major achievement that they are now able to offer these services on much smaller and under resourced islands, and on a much bigger scale.
It is of vital importance that the population of stray animals on the islands are vaccinated and sterilised so that the population can be controlled, which will help lessen the spread of disease and the number of animals that are left to suffer out on the streets foraging for food and shelter.
The medicine and supplies were purchased in totality with your donations. So this program and campaign would never have happened without you and your support.
As we speak the supplies are on their way from South Africa and we will update you with news on how the campaign went in the next report!
With Gratitude,
GVI Seychelles
