Diane decided to take three months off from work. Her role as an executive in a marketing firm had become too stressful and she needed a break.
In Costa Rica, she found the pace she was looking for in a small village. One night, a neighbor quite familiar to Diane came by to chat. She invited him inside for a cup of coffee. When he made a pass at her, Diane told him that she liked him as a friend and explained she was gay.
The neighbor became more argressive, forced Diane down on the couch and tried to rape her. Fortunately, another neighbor, Amy, heard her scream and came by to see what was going on. With Amy's help, Diane was able to fight off the neighbor.
When Diane called the police, the neighbor said she had consented. The police did not arrest the neighbor.
We have been able to provide counseling and other support to Diane because of donations like yours.
