The Spring Blossom Scholarship Program supports deprived Dongxiang children aged 8 to 16 to receive education and empowers the young generation to end the vicious cycle of illiteracy and cross generation poverty.
Dongxiang in rural Gansu province is one of the most deprived autonomy counties and one of the least literate ethnic minority regions in China. Due to financial burden and culture, Dongxiang girls usually get marry at very young age and most dropped out of school before completing primary education, while boys choose to join the workforce once they finish primary studies.
By offering scholarship to young school dropouts, Dongxiang children can continue schooling and have a better chance to change their destiny.
Through better education, we envision to help end the vicious cycle of illiteracy and cross generation poverty in Dongxiang.
