Themes around the future we want!

Dear SOLE Colombia friend,

Thank you for your support! We finally completed our project Help build a Playground in the Cloud thanks to the generosity of many people like you, who supported us with their donations.

Our Playground in The Cloud (Parque en La Nube) is now an important place to give access to SOLE (Self-Organized Learning Environments) to different people all around Colombia and other parts of the world. On the Playground people can find the necessary information on how to do SOLE, connect with others and share what they have learned with the world.

We also have used this space to share the voices of many people all around Colombia during this year. In 2020 we joined the UN75 iniciative, where diverse communities and people from different parts of the world met virtually or in person to talk about the future they want. Now that this project is already funded, we will deactivate it and you no longer will receive reports from us related to The Playground in Th Cloud. We will still be looking to grow and strengthen this space, being open to the transformations we experience. For this, we will be searching for further funding in the fufure.

Now we're inviting all of our donors to continue supporting SOLE Colombia on GlobalGiving through another project that's more relevant than ever: How to give longlasting peace to Colombia?. This year we had the chance to start a great conversation about the future as part on UN75, where more than 2000 people all around Colombia, had the chance to talk with their communities. For us this also meant an opportunity to contribute to peacebuilding in our country and that's why we want to continue talking with people from diverse backrounds and regions and looking together for solutions to the big challenges we face as a society.

We invite you to explore this project, support us and share with your contacts what we do together to give a longlasting peace to Colombia.

Imagining the future!

People talking all over Colombia

Dear SOLE Colombia friend,

The last months have been intense and awesome at SOLE Colombia. This year is the 75th. Anniversary of the United Nations and we have been invited to join the great worldwide conversation about the future we want (https://www.un.org/en/un75).

The actual worldwide situation has been challenging, but has also brought some new opportunities for the people to connect and talk in new and different ways. At SOLE Colombia we are happy to be part of this iniciative, that has been also an opportunity to bring people together from different parts of the country to do SOLE and start a conversarion. The SOLE methodology is a great fit to begin a conversation basing on Big Questions, and many diverse people have also diverse questions about the fufure. We want the voice of Colombia on this great conversation to be the most authentic as possible and give as many people as possible the chance to talk and have their voices being heard. That's why we shared this invitation to SOLE ambassadors, grannies from The Granny Cloud (a network of volunteers from all ages and genders), and also new people interested in SOLE and in talking about the fufure.

Teachers, librarians, community leaders, students, parents, and many other people from other profiles have joined in and started their own conversation by using their own questions about the future. Excepeting a few people who had the chance to come together in person to talk, all the conversations have been remote until now, where SOLE ambassadors, grannies and the participants, have had the chance to do a Virtual SOLE using StartSOLE (www.startsole.org) and do an asynchronous conversation using Loomio (www.loomio.org).

For all of our process during the last months, the Playground in The Cloud has been a common place where people can find, not only the tools and route to start a conversation on their own about the future, but also to see what has been happening all over Colombia, like you can see here on our map: https://parqueenlanube.padlet.org/solecolombia/lavozdecolombia.

Beyond UN75, we are motivated to continue the conversation about the fufure. We know the importance of bringing people together from many different backround to talk and take action towards that shared future we long for. We have to start now and we hope we can do it together by offering new spaces and grwowing this network of communities and different people all over Colombia and the world.

The Playground in The Cloud, the place to be!

Toolkit_How to have great conversations

Dear SOLE Colombia friend,

We hope you are safe and healthy. We know that the last 3 months have been challenging for all of us, no matter in which corner of the world we are.

At SOLE Colombia we also have been facing a new reality, in the way we work and interact with the SOLE Colombia Community and with our different partners.

This worldwide situation brought us to rethink the importance of what we do. We have a big challenge: How to respond to this situation with the tools we already have, what can we do? what other ressources are available to respond?. Sitting at home, we saw how a new window of opportunities opend for us and many people and communities we are connected with.

We reconnected to other people doing SOLE worldwide, who had similar challenges, and this is how we received the support and great company form the StartSOLE team (www.startsole.org) to have access to a great platform to do virtual SOLE sessions with different people all around the world. This has been a big oportunity to open different spaces to talk, chat and learn together, and this has become the core of what we do at this moment.

Even if the actual crisis is hard, is has opened an opportunity for people from different regions and contexts to connect and start new conversations about the future we want. This is how we also are becoming part of the biggest worldwide conversation that the UN has started as part of their 75th Aniversary (https://www.un.org/en/un75). We at SOLE Colombia are being part of this, connecting 120 different communities all around Colombia to this great conversation. We have the challenge to do the whole project online and are thinking of and working on new ways to connect the people who are isolated and need more urgently that their voices are heard. We know that this actual situation has shown more cleary many problems, like inequality, that have been always under the surface and want to build together with many others the solutions that are needed for our actual and future world.

In this context the Playground in The Cloud has gained a new meaning and we're planning this virtual space to be the center that brings people together to have new conversations and gives them the access to different tools to support them.
