Challenge

As per statistics, not only is the rate for girls in secondary school less than one in five, the literacy rate of women to men later in life is 6:10.Such lack of education and literacy among women has led to many deep rooted societal problems.Strengthening the role of women as entrepreneurs and economic stakeholders is the key to improving the quality of life for this vulnerable country. There is not one facility to train and educate women and girls in the Ndayane region.

Solution

Trained women will be staffed by QSV in order to teach participants about wellness through various methods such as field trips to hospitals, educational texts, videos, and group conversations. Women will be exposed to information regarding how to prevent the spread of illnesses, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and how to meet the health needs of family. Additionally, benefits from this program will grow exponentially as these women pass down health and wellness practices to their children.

Long-Term Impact

Through the Queen Sheba Village Women's Empowerment Center, the organization will annually, and on a growing basis year over year, be able to: train more than 50 women in starting and running a business create a mentor network for its female entrepreneurs provide microloans to 10 program graduates provide health education and hygiene kits for 1,000 women and girls offer over 1,000 community members access to library books and computers host economic empowerment workshops for up to 100 people.
