Supporting Safer Pregnancies for Nigerian Mothers

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear donors, thank you for your donation and for believing in this important work. Your support shows care for mothers who face serious risks during pregnancy, often with little or no access to skilled health workers.

This project is necessary because too many women in Nigeria and across Africa still die from causes that can be prevented. Pregnancy complications such as high blood pressure, infections, and early labor are common, yet many women do not reach a clinic in time. In rural areas, doctors are few, health centers are far, and many women speak only local languages. As a result, warning signs are missed, and help comes too late.

Our project aims to change this reality by building a simple pregnancy risk detection tool that works on basic phones. Women will be able to check symptoms, receive health tips, and get alerts in their own language through a mobile app, SMS, or USSD, even without internet access. Community health workers can also use the tool to identify high-risk cases early and guide women to care before complications become deadly.

So far, we are grateful for the funds raised, but the amount is not yet enough to begin full project activities. Development, testing, and local language setup all require adequate resources to ensure the tool is safe, reliable, and ready for real use. While we cannot start implementation yet, your early support builds momentum and gives us confidence to keep moving forward.

With continued help, this project can save lives, reduce fear during pregnancy, and give women clear guidance when they need it most. Thank you for standing with us and with mothers who deserve safe pregnancies and healthy futures.

With regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
