The building of the Eco Olympic Village will be a cornerstone of Onda Solidaria's mission to focus on human development, education, generation of opportunities/income, and environmental sustainability. Your donation will go towards the building of a multi-functional court and a turf field which will provide space for sport lessons and other teachings. All exceess donations will go towards other projects at the "Eco Social Center" related to basic sanitation, renewable energy, education, etc.
Millions of children in Brazil face poverty, violence, and inadquate education in their daily lives. - Over 40% of Brazilians aged up to 14 live in poverty - that's over 17 million youths. - Brazil has the highest absolute number of adolescent homicides in the world (7th in relative terms) - Less than 10% and 30% of high schoolers graduate at the expected level of math and reading/writing, respectively. We cannot solely rely on Brazil's government to address these issues...
The Eco Village Center provides a safe space, replete of solidarity, far from the environments inflicted with poverty and violence in which many of the Center's youth join from. At the Center, participants benefit from in optimism for a stronger, violentless, and educated future that works in harmony with the environment. The Center transforms the lives of participants by teaching valuable skills, organic farming and eating, the importance of physical education and health, + many more.
As an agent of social transformation, The Eco Social Center targets its surrounding communities, volunteers and national and international residents. Through the Center's exchange program with schools in low-income regions within the U.S. and the U.K., Onda Solidaria can provide a culturally enlightening, educational, and inspiring experience to hundreds of youth in the next few years.
