help build a vocational Centre

Dear Donors, Supporters, and Partners,

 We are pleased to present this progress report on the ongoing construction and implementation of the Vocational Training Centre for communities affected by the Akosombo Dam flooding. Your generosity continues to transform lives, restore hope, and create sustainable opportunities for young people and families who were severely impacted by the disaster.

 1. Water Connection Completed

Although the building had been roofed and the learners had moved into the facility, one major challenge remained unresolved—the centre had no water connection. This made daily operations extremely tedious, especially for the vocational programmes that require consistent water use. We are grateful to God and to all who supported this need, as water has now been successfully connected to the facility during the reporting period.

 2. Electricity Connection and Staff Accommodation

Another significant challenge was the absence of electricity in both the main centre and the attached one-bedroom facilitator’s apartment. Although electrical cables had been laid in the apartment, there was no funding to complete the entire wiring and connection at the time. We are pleased to report that electricity has now been fully connected. With this development, the facilitator has moved into the one-bedroom apartment attached to the facility.

 3. Donation of Sewing Machines

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana donated five (5) brand-new sewing machines, bringing the total number of machines to 23. Although we still require additional machines to serve the growing number of trainees, we are extremely grateful for this generous support.

 4. Donation of Fabrics for Practical Training

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana also supported the centre with fabrics. These materials have been used for practical lessons, enabling students to sharpen their skills and produce quality items without the burden of purchasing their own materials.

 5. Launch of the Catering Department

The centre expanded its scope by launching the Catering Department in October 2025 with 20 new students. A dedicated facilitator has been hired to oversee the programme. The students successfully completed two months of training and are currently on a short break, set to resume in January 2026.

HOCAP looked forward to work hard to build the Vocational training center in this community that was affected badly by flood and most of the youth also had no skills to gain them into employment. By the Grace of God there were donations from our partners in Seven Hills Global Outreach led by Dr. Jordan, also supported by Enterprise Computing limited, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Abany and some individuals who remains anonymous and some donors from GlobalGiving platform. Our greatest joy was to see the trainees in their uniforms move into the new building even though not fully completed on the 5^th of August.

This report outlines the progress made on the construction project, detailing the completion of the key phases. The fourth quarter saw the finalization of the foundational work, block laying phase, roofing installation of doors, windows and louvers.

Expenditure for the Quarter:

• Roofing Works (Aluminum roofing, Wooden Roofing works).
• Fixing of doors and Louver Works (Window frames, door frames, louver frames, six security doors and transportation, Workmanship for the Mason, Workmanship for fixing the window frames, door frames and louver frames).
• Plumbing Works.
• Casting of the Floor- {(Cement, board, poly membrane, nails), Labour Other expenses (Concrete machine, machine transportation fee, materials transportation fee, wheelbarrow rental), Service fees for casting of the floor).
• Block Works - {Materials (Cement for laying blocks, casting columns, casting beams, column re-bars, iron bars, binding wires, wawa board, normal & wall nails), Labour, Form works (Carpenter columns & beams form works), Steel re-bars work, other expenses (Transportation & wheelbarrow), Service Fee}.
