Dear valued supporters,
Thank you for standing with us and for the trust you continue to place in our mission. This update shares where things stand with the "Help Build the Bakwa Health Center" project. Full funding is still pending, but our team has not slowed down.
Over the past quarter, we have focused on groundwork and community engagement to keep this project moving toward completion. Our commitment remains the same: better healthcare access for the women and children of Bakwa and the surrounding areas. Here is what our team has been doing on the ground despite the funding gap:
A Story from Bakwa:
On a recent visit together with a team from the Njikwa council, our teams spoke with Comfort, a 27-year-old mother of two who lives in Bakwa. She described the 40km trek from Bakwa to Bassa that she and other expecting mothers make just to attend antenatal care visits. In her words:
"Every time I have to make that journey to Bassa, I feel afraid. We try to travel in groups when we can, because if something happens on the road, at least someone is there to help. But many times I have gone alone, walking and praying that I make it there and back safely. It is not easy for any of us. Some women have delivered their babies right there on the road, with no one to assist them. We have lost women this way. If the hospital is finished, it will save so many lives." Stories like Comfort's are why we keep going. Location should never determine whether a mother or child lives or dies.
