Progress Report

By Afor Rene Aza'ah | Project Leader

Dear valued supporters,

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission. We are happy to share our progress on the"Help Build the Bakwa Health Center" project. While our project awaits full funding, we are far from idle. This quarter, we have strengthened our preparation and community engagement to ensure our project’s success. We remain deeply committed to improve healthcare access for women and children in the Bakwa community and its environs. Despite funding challenges, our project team have been on the ground making a difference:

• We continue to engage with stakeholders to gain more support and advocating for improved access to healthcare for women and children.

• Strengthen relationship with the council and increase planning for resource mobilization to complete the installation of windows, doors, equipment and hand over this lifesaving facility to the community.

Voices from the Community:

During our recent engagement, we met mary, a 32-years old pregnant woman from Bakwa. Mary recounted how she treks from Bakea to Bassa, a distance of 40km just to access ANC, a journey which she reounted as a nightmare; ‘Each time I think of the journey I have to trek to Bassa for my ANC visit, tears run down my eyes. At time we use to go in a group with other pregnant women so that we can offer support in case a situation arises. At times I use to trek alone and just pray that nothing bad happens with me on the road. We are really suffering’. Many of us have given birth on this road with no assistance. At times some women even die. If the hospital can be completed, we will be very happy’.

These conversations remind us why this work matters. No woman or child should miss die because of where they live or where they are borne.

How Your Support Will Create Change:

Every dollar goes directly toward:

• Procurement and installation of windows and doors

• Procurement of medical equipment, drugs and consummables.

We invite you to stay connected as we continue this important work. You can stay updated on our progress and share our mission by visiting our project page.

With gratitude,

Afor Rene Aza’ah
