Hagar's Survivor Care project in Cambodia provides victims of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse with holistic and life-saving care. The trauma of trafficking runs deep, but as Hagar's dedicated frontline team supports each individual, survivors will heal and rebuild their lives. This project will provide holistic, wraparound care for each survivor for one year, including safe shelter, trauma counselling, medical care, education, job placement, small business start-up support, and follow-up.
Cambodia is a global hotspot for human trafficking, with an estimated 260,000 people exploited in modern-day slavery. Women and girls are trafficked for sex, for forced labor, and increasingly online on common social media platforms. Most Cambodian victims of trafficking and modern-day slavery are women and girls, and far too few survivors receive the care and support they need to rebuild their lives and stop the vicious cycle of exploitation in their families and communities.
Hagar is on a mission to free and heal individuals and communities from the trauma of trafficking, slavery, and abuse. By providing trauma-informed, individualized care and support to victims through its survivor care project, Hagar supports each person on their journey to lasting freedom and wholeness. When survivors experience healing and freedom, they break the cycle of exploitation in their own lives and their families and communities.
Hagar's Survivor Care Project will support 30 women and girls as they heal from trauma and reintegrate with dignity into family and community. The ripple effect is powerful as each of these 30 survivors breaks the cycle of exploitation and trafficking for future generations.
