Little Sanzhar is from Kazakhstan. In fall 2024 he was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer, hepatoblastoma. Only 1 in a million children is daignosed with this type of cancer annually, and the doctors in Kazakhstan did not have much experience treating it. Sanzhar's family decided to travel to a large medical center in Turkey to access specialized cancer care.
Once in Istanbul, Sanzhar had initial chemotherapy to shrink the tumor before the surgery. However, the first two cycles did not work as well as hoped, and his family had to raise additional funds for two more chemotherapy cycles. In December, he was cleared for surgery to remove the remaining tumor and had the surgery on January 3rd. Post-surgery he was recommended to undergo 2 more cycles of chemo to ensure the cancer does not return. Thanks to your support, we were able to contribute to Sanzhar's additional two cycles of chemo with cisplatin.
We hope Sanzhar's surgery is successful and he is soon able to return to normal life with his twin sister and two older siblings. His whole family expressed their deep gratitude for the support they received!
Thank you for your kindness and continuing support for kids like Sanzhar! Please consider signing up for monthly donations to allow us to provide help at any time throughout the year.
