Thanks Paul G Allen Foundation and Global Giving Donors For Health Supplies
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
door-to-door distribution health supplies
Here is a quick update and thank YOU vdeo that we just received last night.
A week ago in partnership with Door of Hope, we distributed soap and Dettol disinfectant to the Wellington Community in Freetown. Christina, on behalf of Door of Hope, extends her profound appreciation to Global Giving and Develop Africa for providing health supplies – soap and Dettol disinfectant. Special thanks also goes to the Paul G. Allen Foundation for a matching grant that made this possible.
Christiana also appeals for your support towards provision of basic food items for the upcoming 3-day lock down. The Sierra Leonean government has ordered people to stay inside their homes for 3 days from the 19th to the 21st September to help curb the spread of Ebola. Many Sierra Leoneans live on a day-to-day basis and 3 days will be a challenge.
We are embarking on a food distribution program in the Wellington community where we will be bagging and distributing rice, cooking oil, tomatoes, onions, Maggi (spices) and a little cash to buy fish. This will be primarily to people who survive on daily sales – petty traders, the unemployed and aged people in the community.
We welcome your support towards this venture that will make the difference between food on the table and starvation. Your donation of $10 will provide food supplies for 1 family during this period. Thanks for your support.

Thank You Message for YOU From the Minister of Health and Sanitation
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
Dr. Fofanah - Minister of Health and Sanitation
We are excited to share with you a brief video message from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
In the video, Dr. Abubakar Fofanah, the Minister of Health and Sanitation expresses appreciation on behalf of the President, Government and people of Sierra Leone for the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donation that YOU helped provide for health workers. The large box of PPE, that we sent by DHL, included gloves, coveralls, hoods, goggles and protective respiratory masks).
Dr. Fofanah says in the video - "On behalf of His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the Government and the people of Sierra Leone, I want to take this opportunity to extend a very big "Thank You" to Develop Africa For this generous gesture. We can assure them that this donation will be used for the intended purpose. We look forward to an even stronger and better working relationship with them, now and in the future. Thank you very much!"
This would not have been possible without your kind support. Our efforts are warmly appreciated and clearly making a difference in saving the lives of precious health workers.
We are actively working on our next and larger shipment and most of the supplies have arrived here in Tennessee. We will have an update on this in the 1-2 weeks. There is still a desperate need for PPE.
Thanks so much for your kind and on-going assistance!
