Many of the mothers held hostage at hospitals for unable to pay their bills after child birth sleep in sitting chairs with their child on their lap. Some sleep and drop their child to death or severely injured. They spend several months in poor conditions at the hospital and attract diseases. Some mothers, for the fear of suffering hospital detention give birth at their home. Many mothers abandon their children at the hospital. Finance is the major challenge for this issue.
The ABUFAD Chapter for mother-child welfare is a foundation working in collaboration with the authorities of various hospitals in Ghana to negotiate the bills of such victims to come up with a standard bill and further schedule a plan for payment by the foundation on behalf of the victims. We allocate the abandoned children to orphanages and support the orphanages to take care of them. We also organize education program and give job assistance for victims to help take care of their children
With our support mother who abandon their children at the hospitals will end such practices. Mothers and Children who suffers diseases infected from poor conditions of the facilities they are kept in hostage can be controlled and death from such conditions can be significantly reduced. Our enrollments of the children abandoned at hospitals into orphanages and support them with education will also give hope for the future of such children.
