Dear Friends,
Thank you for supporting Ukraine’s children whose lives depend on timely, high-quality care at the country’s largest children’s hospital, Okhmatdyt.
While the reconstruction of the hospital is nearing completion after the attack, your contributions make it possible for children to receive medical supplies and find comfort at our Dacha Family House between therapies.
One of these children is Matvii, a 10-year-old. As you can see in the photo, he was able to celebrate the Christmas holidays, a moment of warmth and normalcy amidst his treatment.
Matvii is calm and a little shy, deeply attentive to the people around him. He loves building LEGO and 3D puzzles, playing computer games, riding his bicycle, gathering mushrooms, and traveling. These simple things help him feel like himself and bring quiet joy into difficult days.
A year ago, everything began with something that seemed ordinary: headaches and fatigue. At first, nothing appeared alarming, but his mother’s intuition would not let her stop looking for answers. When pressure, drowsiness, and nausea followed, the family insisted on a full examination. The MRI changed their lives. Matvii was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and the family urgently moved to Kyiv for treatment at Okhmatdyt.
Since then, Matvii has been on a long and demanding path. He has undergone brain tumor removal surgery, radiation therapy with supportive chemotherapy, and five of eight chemotherapy protocols. He is now in the sixth. For him, each day is a careful balance between treatment and his wish to remain simply a child.
Your support makes this possible: lifesaving care at Okhmatdyt and a warm, humane space at Dacha, where families can catch their breath and gather strength to face the hardest days together.
Thank you for being part of this circle of care.
