Dear Friends,
Thank you for supporting children in Ukraine whose lives depend on timely, high-quality care at the country’s largest children’s hospital, Okhmatdyt.
One of those children is Viktoriia, aged 14. In the photo, she wears a wig – like many teenagers, she feels shy about changes in her appearance during treatment. Before her illness, she danced, figure skated, and won school competitions. Now she studies remotely in the 9th grade, tires easily, and holds on to simple wishes: to get well, return home to Zaporizhzhia, and see the war end.
Her diagnosis came in the summer of 2023. After rapid weight loss, high fever, and enlarged lymph nodes, she began treatment in Zaporizhzhia: examinations, surgeries, six cycles of chemotherapy. When the illness relapsed, doctors referred her to Okhmatdyt for a bone marrow transplant and further care. That is where she is today.
Your support makes it possible for children like Vika to receive essential medical supplies each month and to find rest at our Dacha Family House between therapies.
Thank you for being part of this care.
P.S. Okhmatdyt continues to recover after the attack. The main building has been largely restored. The most critically damaged building will be fully rebuilt from scratch. Most importantly, Okhmatdyt has never stopped caring for patients – and the number of children arriving in need of treatment has not fallen. It has grown.
