Aslan is an adorable little boy who makes his young parents proud. At just 1 year and 7 months of age, he knows more than 20 words, can turn on cartoons on the tablet, and identifies many animal sounds. Aslan's favourite word is "Where?" because he is curious about everything in the world and eager to learn and explore. His whole life was ahead of him, but in November 2024 everything changed. Aslan was diagnosed with blood cancer, AML.
The initial efforts to save Aslan began in his homeland of Kazakhstan. The doctors of the Institute of Pediatrics in Almaty treated him and hoped that after the first round of chemotherapy, the eye tumor would shrink and the redness would diminish. Unfortunately, following the first chemotherapy, severe complications arose, causing Aslan's second eye to swell also. This was both atypical and severe. Aslan's parents were told that, given their son's age and the treatment protocols of the hospital, Aslan might not be able to endure a sufficient number of chemotherapy treatments. The best decision in their situation would be to go abroad immediately to save their son.
In despreation, Aslan's parents rushed to explore treatment options in other countries, fully aware they were running out of time. After an exhaustive search for treatment, they came across Acibadem clinic in Turkey. Fortunately, Aslan's blood counts were good enough for travel, and the family urgently flew to Istanbul. Aslan has started treatment, but will most likely need to undergo bone marrow transplant in the future.
Thanks in part to your support, Aslan's family was able to bring their son abroad and access treatment options unavailable in their home country. Little Aslan now has a chance to defeat leukemia and grow into a healthy adult. We are very grateful for your support for kids like Aslan and hope you are showered with love on Valentine's day!
