Students are excited to study in new classroom

By Karma Sherpa | Project Leader

Devastating Nepal earthquake destroyed classrooms students were unable to attend school and lack conducive environment to get their education. More than one million children had to attend school without a safe place to study. The schools were damaged or destroyed during the devastating earthquake.

Now, we are more than happy to share with you, the completion of our Mukli Lower Secondary School in Mukli VDC, Solukhumbhu.  We helped to build two classrooms for the school which benefitted 100 students. The School building is built with permanent earthquake resistance classrooms designed by certified engineer and approved by Nepal Government using reinforce cement concrete (RCC) structure model as first-of its kind classroom within the region.

According to Principal of the School Devi Bahadur Basnet, “the teaching and learning practice has been easy. Due to good infrastructure, teachers also feel safe and there is improvement in overall performance of teacher and students”.

With the construction of these classrooms, children are able to resume their class. There is increase in the number of attendance. It has made the children feel safe about going to the school, and so do the parents. The drop rate of children has decrease and those who had dropped to return back to school have increased. Most importantly, it has helped them not to be prey of early marriage, trafficking and slavery of any form.

We thank you all for your generous donation which has helped to fulfill the dreams of these children of going to school. The response from the community has been overwhelming. In, 2017 we intend to build 10 classrooms in lower Everest region. So, no more children are left behind in pursuing their education. Do stay with US.

Namaste & Happy Holidays!!
