Respected Donor,
Warm greetings from SERUDS!
We are delighted to share with you the impact of our skills training program in the Shareen Urban Slum of Kurnool Municipal Corporation. This initiative is designed to empower underprivileged women, widows, and adolescent girls who face limited opportunities due to economic hardships and traditional family customs. Many of these women and girls, aged 15 to 35 years, lack the skills needed to secure employment or start their own ventures.
Understanding their eagerness to learn, we launched a six-month skills training program focused on fashion designing, zari work, tailoring, and embroidery. To ensure quality learning, we have engaged a skilled and qualified trainer to guide the 25 beneficiaries enrolled in this program. SERUDS provides all the necessary raw materials required for training, enabling the participants to practice and refine their skills effectively.
The training program is structured to offer four hours of instruction daily. During this period, participants learn a variety of techniques, including designing, cutting, stitching, button sewing, and other essential tailoring and embroidery skills. The enthusiasm and dedication shown by these women and girls during the training sessions are truly inspiring.
As their skills improve, many of the women have already started receiving small orders from neighbors and nearby areas. They are stitching blouses, petticoats, uniforms, jackets, saree falls, innerwear, and other garments in demand. This has provided them with an opportunity to earn approximately 180 per day, helping them contribute to their households and gain financial independence.
This program has not only provided them with a sustainable livelihood but has also boosted their self-confidence, empowering them to stand on their own and envision a brighter future. The smiles and gratitude expressed by these women and girls are a testament to the life-changing impact of your support.
We sincerely thank you for your generous contributions through the esteemed organization GlobalGiving. Your support has been instrumental in transforming lives, creating opportunities, and fostering hope for these deserving individuals.
