Strengthening Youth Skills for Employment and Entrepreneurship
Development Alert continues to empower young people by equipping them with practical skills that open pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. During this reporting period, youth from underserved communities participated in hands-on training programs covering vocational skills such as tailoring, crafts, agribusiness, and small enterprise management. In addition, participants received training in financial literacy, savings, and business planning, enabling them to turn their ideas into viable income-generating ventures.
The results have been transformative. Many of the trained youth have already begun starting small businesses or finding employment within their communities. This has not only improved their financial independence but also restored hope and purpose among young people who previously faced uncertainty and unemployment. Some participants are now supporting their families, paying school fees for siblings, and reinvesting in their businesses.
The program has also created a ripple effect, as beneficiaries share their knowledge with peers and inspire others to pursue productive opportunities. However, many more young people are still in need of such interventions. Continued donor support is essential to expand training opportunities, provide tools and start-up capital, and ensure that more youth can build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to community development.
