Diakassan has thrived in the past 7 years, under the stable and loving care of ACFA's Children's Home in Bamako, Mali. We believe she deserves a quality education, a safe and healthy environment, and the opportunity to participate in the sports that she loves. Please consider contributing towards the cost of her care - just $3000 for one year of shelter, food, clothing, education, healthcare and sports activities. Your donation makes a big impact!
Diakassan came from a family that had no income and no way to pay for school fees. Many children in Mali have to find work or beg on the streets instead of attending school. The lack of education limits these children from breaking through the poverty cycle and attaining a brighter future. Twelve children, including Diakassan, have lived at the Bamako Children's Home since 2011 and have thrived in their new environment. The cost of operating the Home is roughly $3000 per child per year.
Diakassan, who couldn't read or write when she came to us at age 7, is now among the top three students in her class at age 14. In addition to receiving stable shelter, clothing, meals, and healthcare, she attends school, receives additional tutoring as needed, and participates in the sports that she loves: Taekwando and Fencing. Her educational and athletic accomplishments would have been out of reach, if it weren't for people like you, who help ACFA care for Diakassan and 11 other children.
Diakassan wants to be a scientist when she grows up. Thanks to everyone who supports ACFA, this future is attainable for her. We equip the children with tools to survive, thrive, and contribute to a stable Mali. ACFA's healthy and supportive environment prepares the 12 children for future opportunities that never would have been available to them had they continued to live on the streets. We aim to disrupt the cycle of poverty and transform the futures of these children and their communities.
