Officially there is no longer a caste system in Nepal...yet one continues to exist. The Dalit are the lowest...and poorest...caste in Nepal, are the least educated and the most vulnerable to being TRAFFICKED. Dalit girls face a HIGH RISK as they are traditionally the LEAST EDUCATED. This program will begin by educating 25 of the poorest, most at risk children, mostly girls, living along the southern border of Nepal. Please help give them a CHANCE at a normal, safe, worthwhile life!
Uneducated children, especially girls, are at the highest risk of being trafficked. Unfortunately, this demographic is still ignored in Nepal, particularly for the Dalit/poorest of the poor. Why? Culturally, many believe educating girls is unnecessary which results in a lack of motivation in parents to send their girls to school. Lack of money for education is also a huge obstacle. So, parents as well as children need education for a better future for the children.
When parents realize the value of education for their children, especially girls, we can create a better future. Deep Nepal, founded by Bishnu Sapkota, will monitor the participating girls on a regular basis paying particular attention to avoiding violence at home and dropping out of the school program. They will also work closely with schools and teachers to improve the school environment, ultimately creating a safe, nurturing haven for education. This program is will be life-changing!
Educating the neediest girls in the rural villages will result in a brighter tomorrow in the community. Educated mothers will raise healthier babies and contribute to better family planning. They will also ensure that children will be educated regardless of gender. EDUCATION is the best way out of poverty and the BEST DEFENSE AGAINST BEING TRAFFICKED. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to live a productive, valuable life. YOU can change a life with your generous donation!
